Thinking Outside The Box

I must admit I am not good at staying inside the box. I have tended to always ask the very important question “Why?” I find this industry tends to make advisors myopic in their view. Now I do know some very good visionaries, advisors who think outside the box, who ask the question “why”? What are your true dreams and visions for yourself and your business. Have you written them down? Now I know some of you might say; “Joe I can’t think about my dreams and visions because right now all I am trying to do is survive.” I can appreciate that BUT what you focus on is the reality that you create for yourself. Think survival you get survival. Think optimal practice and life and that is what you will get ultimately– as long as you take action. This is what Adviser 2015 is all about. Listen to my audio comments for more details.

Tolerating Clients

One of the key concepts of Advisor 2015, is not to tolerate certain toxic client relationships. In speaking with a new coaching client recently, they were discussing with me a very needy, multi-million dollar, non fee based client. This client has generated less then $1,000 per year in fees -primarily from deeply discounted bond trades. This person is demanding, calls a few times per week, and does not take the advisors advice on financial planning, etc. I asked why they were tolerating the relationship. There response was a list of poor justifications, does not want to loose the assets, scarcity, afraid of conflict, someday maybe they will change their minds, etc, etc. This relationship was a big stressor, we had to make a change. Let me share with you the entire story with my audio comments.

The Decease of “Someday”

One of the main tenants of Advisor 2015 is to stop thinking like most other advisors. If you think like the masses then you can never rise above them. How many times have you said to yourself “someday when I (grow my revenue, go independent, get caught-up, etc)”. That is the decease of “someday”! The New Advisor (NA) thinks in terms of concrete action plans and thinks for themselves–not being afraid of trying new ideas or strategies. Let me ask you a very important question. If you had the opportunity to build your business from scratch, what would you do different? Let me share some insights with you with my audio comments.

The Concept of Time In The Advisor 2015 Model

Why 9-5, why Monday to Friday, Why 4 weeks a month, etc? When I ask advisors how they created their schedules, the answer most always get is “I don’t know”, “This is what I have always done”. Now I will give you that a decade or so ago in order to be a successful advisors you had to be in your office and by the phone during market hours. With the advent of technology (The Internet), you now have the availability to conduct business anywhere you can find the internet. Yet most advisors operate in a model that is at least 20 years old. Let me paint a different picture for you with my audio comments below.

How to Seek Balance in the Advisor 2015 Model

One of the greatest lies in this business in about balance. If you are a successful advisor you will tend to thing about your business all the time–as all successful business people do. You like to believe that the weekend are reserved for family or personal pursuits. The reality is the weekends come and go so fast you hardly have time to blink. True balance can only be found in my experience on a weekly basis. A couple of days off here and there will never give you that sense of happiness. Let me introduce you to some key concepts in my audio comments below.

Welcome to the Advisor 2015 Philosophy

One of the fundamental shifts that I have made in my coaching work is to bring my Advisor 2015 model to my clients. In a nutshell, Advisor 2015 is an alternative advisor practice model. Where instead of trying to keep your business and life separate, you in essence merge the two into one congruent lifestyle. Those clients of mine who have gone through the series of the website and in the conferences all agree it is some of the most powerful and thought provoking information and strategies they listen to. Please listen to my audio comments for an introduction to the Advisor 2015 philosophy.

What Clients Say:

“I’ve worked with Joe for the past year and it’s changed my business. I had established a successful practice prior to meeting Joe, but he has worked with me to evaluate it, fine tune it, and approach the future of it headed in some new directions. His best technique is FOCUS and with him, I’m looking forward to taking my practice to a higher level than I could have ever anticipated." Wlima Anderson - The LTC Coach
